Ioway Creek runs along the edge of Iowa State University's campus, where the walk past the central campanile and through the quad gives a good sense of the place. Most evenings settle around Campustown's restaurants and bars just south of campus, with Des Moines a half-hour drive south. Ames, IA is mostly chain territory for tub rooms: Wyndham, Radisson and Super 8 all have them, across 13 verified stays. Rates start at $61 and sit around $90. 12 of the 13 put the jacuzzi in the room itself. One more Ames listing didn't survive the photo check.

How we verify a tub is in the room·The same figure for every city and state
November to March is when a private tub in Ames is the reason to book rather than a nice extra — January nights average 11°F and the average high stays at or below 60°F. At the other end, by July the average high is 84°F, which is patio weather rather than hot-tub weather. Figures are NOAA 1991–2020 normals from AMES MUNI AP, IA US, 2km away.

Across the 13 verified stays here, listed rates run $61–$128 a night before tax and cluster near $90. Super 8 by Wyndham Story City is the lowest we've confirmed, at $61.
Iowa House, at 9.3/10 from 135 guest reviews. AmericInn by Wyndham Ankeny/Des Moines follows at 9.1 from 276 reviews. Our list puts private tubs (in the room or on a private patio) first, then shared hotel spas. Within each group, hotels with strong scores from many guests, more photos, and a tub we've seen in their own photos rank higher. Listings with very few reviews or photos sit at the bottom of their group.
12 of the 13 stays we list in Ames, IA are tagged in-room jacuzzi or jetted tub. 2 are shared hotel spas — labelled that way, never sold as in-room. Another 1 listing here didn't survive the photo check.
Wyndham, Radisson, Super 8 and Days Inn all have verified tub rooms in Ames. The other 3 are independents.
4 of the 13 verified stays in Ames, IA have a jetted whirlpool tub in the room, and 8 more have another kind of private in-room tub. "Whirlpool", "jacuzzi" and "jetted tub" all describe the same thing — a tub with jets — so hotels use them interchangeably. What they don't tell you is whether it's a jetted tub or a plain deep soaking tub with no jets at all, which is the distinction we check and label.
Most of these stays also include free parking, free Wi-Fi and free breakfast. Every listing shows its own amenity set.
