Whirlpool suites with the tub in the room

Suites where the tub is a jetted whirlpool and it is inside the room. Hotels use “whirlpool”, “jacuzzi” and “spa tub” interchangeably in their own listings, so we go by the tub itself: every stay here carries a jetted-tub tag, and a deep soaking bath — however large — does not qualify.

Whirlpool suites with the tub in the room — questions

What is the difference between a whirlpool tub and a jacuzzi?

Nothing, in practice. Jacuzzi is a brand name that became a generic term the way Hoover did, and “whirlpool” is the generic word for the same thing: a bathtub with pressurised water jets. Hotels use both for the same fixture. What actually varies is where the tub sits and whether it has jets at all — a deep soaking bath has none, and some listings still call it a jacuzzi.

How do you decide a stay is a whirlpool suite?

Two independent conditions. The tub must carry a jetted-tub tag in our taxonomy — a deep soaking bath is excluded no matter how the hotel describes it — and the room has to be suite-style, which we take from the operator's own room name rather than guessing. Both have to hold, so the page is smaller than the number of hotels advertising the phrase.

Is the whirlpool tub in the bathroom or the bedroom?

Both layouts are common and they are very different stays. The classic American whirlpool suite sets a corner tub into the bedroom or living area; elsewhere the jetted tub sits in an oversized bathroom. Every listing shows photographs of the actual tub rather than a stock bathroom shot, so you can see which one you are booking.

Do the jets always work?

Not always, and it is the most common complaint about this room type. Jets get switched off when a pump fails and the room keeps being sold as a whirlpool suite. If it is the point of the trip, ring the property and ask them to confirm the jets are working in the specific room before you pay a suite premium for it.
