Alii Drive runs along the waterfront through the center of town, lined with restaurants, shave ice stands and shops, with Kamakahonu Beach and the old Hulihee Palace grounds within walking distance. The coastline here is lava rock and calm bays rather than sand, and coffee farms in the uplands above town make for an easy half-day drive. Even the cheapest tub room in Kailua Kona, HI is $263, and they reach $889; the median across 8 verified stays is $395. 5 are shared hotel spas, labelled as such rather than sold as in-room. Holualoa Inn reviews best at 9.8/10 across 406 reviews.
Kailua Kona never drops below a 81°F average high, so a private tub here is a year-round comfort rather than a seasonal one — there is no month you would book it *because* of the weather. What does move is rain: January averages 1.4 inches, and an in-room tub beats a hotel pool on a wet evening.
