Ponderosa Lodge

The location of this lodge is excellent. It's a short drive to the lesser-used entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, which helped avoid some of the long lines. It's also situated by a stream and in a wooded area, making the location beautiful. There is no AC. This is not a problem for 10 months out of the year, but I was there in July and the room was unbearably hot. The temperatures outside did cool at night, but getting that cool air into the room required having just the unlockable screen door between your bed and the outside world. Also, anyone passing by could see while you're sleeping. I was not comfortable with that.

On Fall River, easy access from Estes park and entrance to Rocky Mountain national park, comfy bed, mini fridge with freezer and coffee maker and ceramic coffee mugs. Outside deck overlooking river. Friendly staff, water bottle refill in office, 11am check out, relaxed environment .fan provided. Squeaky slider screen, difficulty sliding open from inside, could not get tv to operate . We tried late evening but since staying for one night in economy room #11 we didn’t care too much. I’m sure issues would have been addressed if we told office, room was clean and comfortable for the two of us.

The room by the river was great. The manager was friendly and attentive. The self serve room with filtered ice and water was amazing. The room was very clean when we arrived. People staying up late and talking loudly on the deck was the only complaint. Someone was talking very loudly on the deck, on her phone during the morning for quite a while also. I talked to the manager and he handled it promptly.

Great location, beautiful scenery, and very helpful staff. The room was right on the river. It was very relaxing to sit on the porch after a long day of hiking. Ben and Tim were great! It was all perfect!
